Themes of entrapment (\u003ci\u003eBirds Without Wings\u003c\/i\u003e, \u003ci\u003eThe Gilded Cage\u003c\/i\u003e), environmental concern (\u003ci\u003eEarthrise\u003c\/i\u003e) and wistful longing for a simpler, rural life (\u003ci\u003eMy Treasured Land\u003c\/i\u003e, \u003ci\u003eHome At Last\u003c\/i\u003e) sit alongside celebrations of municipal foresight (the planting of a cherry tree by Waltham Forest Council) and the innocence of childhood (\u003ci\u003eBrand New World\u003c\/i\u003e, \u003ci\u003eThat’s Not My Unicorn\u003c\/i\u003e). Stylistically varied, the album brings together different strands of the British folk tradition – Irish low whistles and flutes jostle up next to traditional English folk songs (\u003ci\u003eAdieu Sweet Lovely Nancy\u003c\/i\u003e, \u003ci\u003eBold Riley\u003c\/i\u003e) – and fuses Celtic reels with American Bluegrass (\u003ci\u003eAmericana\u003c\/i\u003e) and Indian music (\u003ci\u003eBrand New World\u003c\/i\u003e).
