Most of the songs started as offcuts or unfinished pieces from previous album writing sessions. A considerable amount of additional writing took place to complete the songs. Whilst the original version of \u003cem\u003eFar Skies Deep Time\u003c\/em\u003e was over 40 minutes in length, it was always described by the band as an EP as they did not wish it to be considered the next studio album after \u003cem\u003eThe Underfall Yard\u003c\/em\u003e.
