Residuos Mentales - Introspection (CD)

Introspection was the debut album from Residuos Mentales (Greece), originally released in August 2018. It tells the story of a man who is tortured by memories of the past. The inner voices are let loose, and the rainy day exacerbates the gloominess. The character spins a vinyl, and old, nagging recollections resurface. Finally, the character is sucked by a whirlpool, recounting their life. The optimistic prospect, the feeling like “coming home,” is gradually replaced by vague, forgotten, yet ever-present memories of loss and disappointment that get clearer and clearer in their head. Recounting these stories brings our character to their limit, who makes a promise to set everything right but “you can’t escape the past, no matter how much you want to,” and the mental residuals in their head prevent them from keeping their promise. The centerpiece of Introspection, My Stories features lines from the movie The Words.
“Spacious electronics, minimalistic soft touches on piano, flute, beautiful violins and classical guitar are sometimes met with sound effects, such as playing a vinyl record or radio waves.
