SYNERGY - Games (CD)
“Games” is the fourth SYNERGY project. The album was recorded in late 1978 and early 1979 in and around composer/producer Larry Fast’s touring and recording schedule with Peter Gabriel. Much of “Games” continued the tradition of the previous Synergy albums, composed and performed mostly on Moog and other synthesizers. “Games” was the first Synergy album to make use of the newly introduced Prophet 5 polyphonic synthesizer. But, the big innovation was the first use of digital synthesis and digital audio on a Synergy album. Using the experimental Alles Synthesizer at AT&T Bell Laboratories, new complex timbres and rapid-fire digital sequencing introduced previously unheard sonic colors and a glimpse into the future of digital sound and recording.
All pieces on the album were composed by Larry Fast. Several in the ‘Soundcheck’ collection were written and sketched on the road during the 1978 Peter Gabriel tours.
