SYNERGY - Metropolitan Suite (CD)
“Metropolitan Suite” is Larry Fast’s first digitally recorded SYNERGY project. The album was recorded throughout 1986 and released early in 1987. The Metropolitan Suite is a collection of short pieces that are musical abstractions of New York (and probably many other American cities) during the first few decades of the Twentieth Century. They are inspired by the book “New York 1900” by Robert A.M. Stern, Gregory Gilmartin and John Massengale. This architectural study of New York during the central years of what is commonly called the Metropolitan Age reinforced a common thread of development between music and architecture.
Additional musical pieces explore other themes of American culture in the 20th Century. The album was prepared at the Synergy Studio as a collection of computer-based MIDI files. It was recorded at House of Music studios to 24 track linear digital tape on a Sony 3324 multitrack. Mixing was to the Sony F1 Beta digital audio format.
All pieces on the album were composed by Larry Fast.
Available here with updated mastering on CD derived from the original digital mix tapes.
