Yobrepus – A Rhizome Revolution Part 2 (LP)
This is an Apollon Records release.

Yobrepus drops part two of A Rhizome Revolution – a dark and despondent take on the global state of affairs.

With their Rhizome Revolution project, Norwegian art-rockers Yobrepus aim to make clear that we’re in a dire polycrisis, where the synergic effects of destructive climate change, cutthroat capitalism, haphazard AI development and depletion of resources will lead to a serious collapse.

Four years have passed since the experimental-indie debut Black Mould, and Yobrepus has become a real band with real ambitions. Ambitions that, this time around, led them to record with Emil Nikolaisen at Malabar Studios and hire the experienced Nick Terry to mix on vintage analogue gear.

However, it would be wrong to describe the music as retro. On the contrary, this is text-book post-progressive, and much more coherent than their previous effort. Sure, there’s still that vibe of indie rock, and the odd touch of 90s trip-hop, but where we would previously draw comparisons to the Beatles, Radiohead or Sparklehorse – we now hear the influence of acts like King Crimson, Pink Floyd and Porcupine Tree.
