Frank Hammersland

Frank Hammersland was a renowned Norwegian songwriter and musician, best known as the frontman of Pogo Pops, Popium, and The Love Connection. Hailing from Bergen, Norway, he became a significant figure in the Norwegian pop rock scene, sometimes called “Bergen’s 1st Pop Star”.

Hammersland’s career took off with Pogo Pops, a band that played a crucial role in defining the “Bergen Wave” of music. The band released several albums in the 1990s, which were critically acclaimed. After Pogo Pops disbanded in 1996, Hammersland pursued a solo career and later formed Popium and fronted The Love Connections, cementing his musical influence in Norway and beyond.

Sadly, he passed away in January 2023 after losing his battle with cancer. He is remembered as one of Norway’s greatest songwriters and a beloved figure in the music community. His final album will be released in October 2024.
