The Dark Third is the debut full-length album by Pure Reason Revolution, released in 2006, blending progressive rock, psychedelic elements, and rich vocal harmonies.
The album’s title refers to the "Dark Third," symbolizing the third of a person’s life spent asleep and dreaming, with thematic inspiration drawn from Gérard de Nerval’s book Aurelia.
Nearly 15 years on from its original release, the album was reissued as a 2CD digipak and a 180g 2LP in gatefold sleeve in October 2020. The CD edition features the album plus bonus tracks from the same period. The LP edition features the album plus selected bonus tracks including the first vinyl appearance of the track Golden Clothes. It has also been newly remastered especially for the LP format.
