Starting off with the title track, a 37-minute suite, Ton Scherpenzeel is back with his latest solo album and as ambitious as ever.
The recording features solo piano only — no overdubs, vocals, guitar, bass, or drums. Two tracks (A Fleeting Light and Chasing the Wind) are entirely improvised; the remaining three are new, stripped-down versions of previously released Kayak instrumentals. The album presents composing and improvising as related approaches to material development. The music is intended for focused, seated listening with eyes closed to encourage an immersive, imagined landscape.
