Big Big Train
Big Big Train has a long backstory. The band was originally founded in 1990 and went through a number of line-up changes in the first 15 or so years of its existence.
In 2009, the band decided on a fresh start and the current version of Big Big Train began to take shape. Since then, Big Big Train has gone on to win four Progressive Music Awards, has played a number of sold-out shows and has seen 2017's Grimspound reach number one in the official UK rock charts and number 45 in the official UK album charts.
In 2019, Big Big Train became a Top 40 band with the release of their Progressive Music Awards Album of the Year, Grand Tour. in 2020, they released Empire, a live Blu-ray/2 CD set.
In 2021, the band made good use of their pandemic downtime by releasing both the remixed/remastered The Underfall Yard and new studio album Common Ground, which had them on the official UK charts once again. The year came to a shocking end with the untimely passing of David Longdon in November.
The band quietly released Welcome To The Planet, which had been produced before David's death, on January 28, 2022. After several months of soul searching, the band announced that they would abide by David's wishes and their journey would continue - first with their oft-cancelled first European Tour scheduled for September and second with Alberto Bravin (PFM) as the band's new lead vocalist. Big Big Train - Between The Lines: The Story Of A Rock Band, written by Grant Moon, was released in June.
2023 saw the release of Ingenious Devices and a massively successful European tour, which had the band perform 17 concerts across nine countries, concluding with two triumphant appearances at London’s Cadogan Hall.
March 2024 saw Big Big Train releasing their 15th studio album, The Likes Of Us, via InsideOut Music, and embarking on their first Cruise to the Edge and American tour. July would see the release of the next book about Big Big Train, Andrew Stuart's "A View From The Embankment, A View From The Line". The band would headline the final Night of the Prog in July and would appear at Cropredy Festival in August. Rounding out the year would be the band's latest live release, "A Flare On The Lens" and another Europe/UK tour.
Watch for the band to appear on Cruise to the Edge 2025.
